Default Last Brussels Airlines B737-300/400 retired from service

Brussels Airlines (SN, Brussels National Zaventem (BRU)) has withdrawn its last B737-300 OO-VEN (MSN 28586) and last B737-400 OO-VET (MSN 28202) from scheduled service by the end of November. It still continues to operate a single B737-300 OO-LTM (MSN 25070) on behalf of subsidiary Korongo Airlines (ZC, Lubumbashi Luano International (FBM)) in the Democratic Republic of Congo

True but they are the classic's now. Not many flag carriers are operting with them anymore.

Indeed the number of operators of the 737 Classic largely declined during the last years. Many people complain about the "boring 737s of Lufthansa" but these aircraft will be gradually retired. SAS also plans to retire their classic 737-400/-500s but this probably not so much in evidence among the public due to the 737NG-fleet.

Yep all around the world the 737 classics are in decline. United retired theirs a while back, US Airways is retiring its fleet now, LH and SK fleets are also in decline. Sad for us aviation enthusiasts but im sure many will continue to fly in Africa and South America probably seeing an end to the 737-200s.

Only 3 and they won't last long. Fact is that the NG is the main 737 now in use with main line carriers.

The current price of oil is not compatible with B737's Classics and MD-80's for most airlines.

QF still uses 734's, although there's only 11 left and there due to retire next year when they receive more 738's.

Meanwhile, good old forward thinking British Airways are plodding on with their 19 currently serving 737-436's !
I was really excited to travel Club Class in one (Not !) ........in a standard economy class seat with the middle seat blocked and just 2 inches more legroom.
At least Airbus A32* operators have a narrow blocked middle seat with a tray on it.

Brian i keep hearing rumours they are scheduled to start being replaced from next year with other aircraft. I had heard A319's but whether this is correct im not sure. How many more A320s does BA have on order as im guessing they will free up the A319s to do this. Sad that the end of the line is coming for the 737 classics but such is progress and all aircraft go through this phaze eventually.

IIRC correctly British Airways once operated 36 Boeing 737-400s and were the biggest operator of this version in Europe? I really liked the sight of BA's 737-200s and 737-400s in the 1990s, topped by the 757s.

What will happen with the 737s of Brussels Airlines?
