Default Sky Team welcomes Aerolíneas Argentinas

Since yesterday:

What could this mean, in practical terms, for Sky Team, its member airlines, Aerolínas Argentinas and Argentina itself?

Hopefully AR will be able to fix their financial problems and to improve their efficiency. Generally I am pleased to see that this alliance has an additional partner and a partner in South America. Nice!

Regards!

For SkyTeam and its members, it means that they now have a foot in the door to the South American market, which so far was OneWorld-dominated through LAN and its affiliates and had a strong StarAlliance presence in TAM. I assume, SkyTeam will now double their effort to bring GOL into the fold and then they are well-represented in South America, which had been the last big white blot on their global map until Aerolíneas Argentinas joined.
