I don't like absolute statements, so I'll say that all takeoffs are almost 100% optional and that landings are almost 100% mandatory.

Yeah, we like Tom Hanks, but Bill Paxton did all the flying... in spite of the fact that he'd had fish for dinner and was very ill.
