Default 1K+ pieces of luggage stolen from PHX

Quote:
An Arizona couple are accused of stealing at least 1,000 pieces of luggage from the Phoenix airport and stashing — or at times, selling — the suitcases.
Keith King, 61, and Stacy King, 38, were arrested at their home in Waddell Friday for allegedly stealing the luggage from Sky Harbor Airport, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported. They were charged with burglary and tampering with evidence.

It’s hard to believe that airport security could be so lax that this couple allegedly got away with stealing over 1000 suitcases before getting caught. Bravo for the law enforcement that caught these individuals and searched their home.

I understand that security’s priority should be to prevent terrorism; however the fact that these couple got away with it for so long suggests security is neglecting other areas.

I’ve heard stories of security not being professional by using their positions for sexual harassment or other forms of harassment. I wonder if security is still wasting staff and compromising our security by not profiling and not targeting suspicious individuals; but instead doing politically correct pseudo-random searches; IE strip searching unsuspicious nativeborn grandmothers to have a politically correct search statistics. Perhaps if they disregarded the politically correct garbage; they would have the security staff to better protect luggage from theft.

In the baggage claim it is very easy to walk off un-noticed with someone elses luggage...that is why I have always advised folks coming off the planes to go str8 to baggage and claim their bags BEFORE doing anything else...the MO is that the thieves sit back and watch the bag belt and can pinpoint luggage that is not being picked up and they can walk up to the belt and pull the bag off and walk off...they never steal the weird colors or bags with identifiable markings on them - it is always the plain colors (red, black, blue or green) with nothing on the outside...
leaving your bags un-attended on the bag belt is like going into the store with your purse or wallet left on the roof of your car - honest folks will leave it alone or turn it into the store, crooks will grab and run...
I guess we need to go back to the good ol' days of listening to people bitch and complain about the lines to get out of baggage because security or airport personnel are there at checkpoints verifying claim check numbers...
At Delta at PBI the baggage service folks are in the claim area, and will randomly check tag numbers on bags - but their main concern is on the golf bags...

Maybe someday, no more vistors can enter baggage claims. All passengers from plane to baggage claims will be security area. No accessable to baggage claims anymore pretty soon. It would be nice and save money from losing insurance or loss personal property.

I flew through PHX just the other week, good thing we decided not to have any checked baggage.
