Default US Airways crash in New York

A US Airways A320 crashed into the Manhatten river today.I just got home from school,so I don't know much but my dad just said they think it's a bird strike.More coming when I know more.

I combined the two threads to keep the data in one place.

Yes i'm seeing it on CNN right now. Said no reports of injuries. Reports of passengers seen on the wings. God as cold as it is in the northeast right now I couldnt imagine being even near the water. Lets keep our fingers crossed no fatalities or serious injuries.

I just checked FlightAware, it is a 320. Hope everyone got evacuated safely.

There's got to be video somewhere.

Eyewitnesses say "incredibly controller landing."

Obviously way too early to tell, but if it's LGA-CLT, and the weather being what it is at LGA right now, could be not de-iced?

No, supposedly the plane encountered a massive birdstrike. Hard to actually tell what happened, seeing as how some news sources claim it was a US Airways A380 that ditched

Here's another one.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/plane_in_river

Not sure what happened here, the AP is saying it is an A320 that was that departed KLGA and then went up to about 3200 then started descending, then kersplat into the water.

Flight Aware also has a link on it.

http://flightaware.com/news/article/...udson-River/93

Hope everyone is fine
Nehal

EDIT I am just listening to NY Arrival and it seems pretty calm not that much traffic.

I heard on CNN, CBS and FOX that all passengers have gotten off the plane, there are injuries but everyone has been evacuated safely. That's great to hear. Also confirming that it did run into a flock of birds with both engines subsequently going out. They have more divers going in as well to re-check the plane.
