No, closer, but still not quite right...

Hint, near to a feature that quite a few songs sing about.

Update: another hint "mighty"...

OK we need some help here...here are two of the famous bridges associated with this hamlet. One is for traffic, one is for rail...

Two questions.

Is the "feature" a road ?

Does "Mighty" refer to the bridge you show ?

The feature is not a road in the plain sense...think more of what roads, or transportation methods, where in the past...

Mighty does in deed have something to do with the bridge. It is what flows beneath.

SouthEast Iowa Regional Airport.

The "Mighty" is the Mississipee River. The traffic must be barge traffic and/or steamboats....The bridge must be this one...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_River_Bridge ......but I can't find any reference to any song link ?

I never paid much attention to the Mighty Miss till wifey and I were headed to Hawaii and were leaving from Frisco.

It was during that epic flood and holy cow, holy canoli, you can see photos but from however high up we were, it was an eye popper.

Right around the time of the OJ trial.

....and it took me ages following the route of the Mississipee River on GoogleEarth. Me being me, I started about 20 miles from the final location......and started by going the wrong way !!!

Anyway.....Talking of GoogleEarth, a simple overview of somewhere sunny.

Gregorio Luperón International Airport

That 4th busiest hint made it super easy, because most Caribbean countries only have 1 or 2, but the first one that popped in my mind that has more than that was the Dominican Republic, and it was the correct assumption.

It is named after a political leader.
Its currently served by 12 airlines.
It's sole runway is just over 11,000 feet long.

Sorry, no.

It is not in the U.S or North America.

All its airlines have year-round service for pretty much all its offered destinations.
