HK CAA forbids HK Airlines to expand further before finances in order

After months of rumors on financial troubles, reports of HAECO and ground handling firms at HKG refusing to service HK Airlines/HK Express aircraft, reports of millions of dollars of fees owed to HK Airport Authority, and then massive delays and cancellation in the last few days due to insufficient staff and problems with turning around aircraft, HK CAA issued an order today to Hainan Airlines owned HK Airlines/HK Express to forbid the airline to take delivery of more aircraft. It can now only operate aircraft that is already registered to the airline. CAA states that it cannot let the airline to further expand its operations until it gets its operating capabilities and finances in order.

The airline currently operates 26 aircraft, including 737, A320 and A330, with 91 aircraft, including A350, A380 and 777F on order. It mainly serves China and Southeast Asia destinations from HKG, with LGW being the only long range destination.

there is also a rumour that HK airlines and their subsidy HK express cannot park at gates at HK International Airport anymore and have to park at remote stands due to the fact they owe HKAA a lot of money.
