Yes however some object might have already washed up just waiting to be found.

They should check their local metal recycling company.
People find stuff and they resell them to the metal recycling companies for few cents per pound.

      • So, obviously, MH370 was brought down by a misplaced ladder. Mystery solved.

        • Oh c'mon, that's just silly.

It's obvious to me that aluminum-eating space aliens beamed aboard the aircraft while in flight. They incapacitated the pax and crew and took control of the aircraft. They landed it on the beach, where they proceeded to consume the aircraft, and that flap is all that's left. The ladder is because before they consumed it they had to disembark from the aircraft. They had the foresight to know no airstair would be available, so they brought a ladder with them.

Which proves once and for all that Airbus composite aircraft are superior, because they are not subject to takeover and consumption by aluminum-eating space aliens.

            Fixed.

(But wait for the final report first)

            • Watching BBCA this morning, a mention was made of a fuselage part finding. Sounds like other pieces are being found, but not a lot photographic evidence.

They found a piece from a sewing machine.

One thing that's been reported is that lots of bottles of Malaysian origin are washing up on the beach.

but they could have come from anywhere really.

                • If plastic water bottles had been submerged and/or rolling about in the sea for 18 months, would the labels not have come off?

BBC - MH370: Reunion debris is from missing plane

Prime Minister: Debris is from MH370

An aircraft part found on Reunion Island was from missing Flight MH370, says Malaysia PM Najib Razak, though investigators stopped short of full confirmation.

It will be interesting to see what they can tell from the damage.

                    • A very happy occurrence... and sad as well.

I really wonder what they can figure out from just once piece of the aircraft. Its greatest value may be in giving guidance on where to look for other wreckage.

I am glad that a bunch of crazy theories are over !
Now is time to trace where that part came from, maybe they need to launch several sono-buoys from Hercules C-130 or S-2E Trackers and see how those sono-buoys are being pushed by the ocean currents, and calculate speed and heading.

                        • Experts who examined the aircraft part found last week have “very strong presumptions” that it came from a Malaysian Boeing 777 that vanished in 2014.

A person involved in the investigation said, however, that experts from Boeing and the National Transportation Safety Board were not yet fully satisfied that the part had indeed come from Flight 370, and called for further analysis before reaching a definite conclusion.

Their doubts were based on a modification to the part, known as a flaperon, that did not appear to exactly match what they would expect from airline maintenance records, according to the person, who requested anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

French and Malaysian officials did not share the Americans’ hesitation, not least because no other Boeing 777s are unaccounted for.

                              • Update from the Australian Transport Safety Board

Drift modelling by Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) shows that material from the current search area could have been carried to La Réunion, as well as other locations, as part of a progressive dispersal of floating debris through the action of ocean currents and wind.

Figure 1 shows the indicative drift of debris from the search area as at 30 July.

Blue, black and red dots simulate items with leeway factors (applied to the 10m wind velocity) of 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8%. The items originated along the black arc (7th arc) on 8 March 2014. White arrows are the winds for the day shown. Magenta symbols are positions of real drifting buoys (with sea-anchors at 12m) on the day. Their movement has been used to estimate the errors of the ocean current component of the total drift velocity.
