    Eddie,

Let me do the photos for you ok?

View of the airport as we climbed in a west-northwesterly heading. The bottom semi-circle is Terminal I while the top one is Terminal II. - Photo taken at Jakarta - International / Soekarno-Hatta (CGK / WIII) in Indonesia on April 26, 2004.

View of CGK runway 25L and Terminal I A, I B, and I C (clockwise). I was in SQ155 bound for SIN. We departed runway 07L and our initial climb took us over the airport in a west-northwesterly heading toward the Java Sea. Also check out photo ID 567880. - Photo taken at Jakarta - International / Soekarno-Hatta (CGK / WIII) in Indonesia on April 26, 2004.

Partial view of CGK as we climbed out of runway 07L. The building in the foreground is Terminal II F, which I believe is used by Garuda and Lion for their international flights. I counted 4 Garuda's and 1 Lion at the gate. - Photo taken at Jakarta - International / Soekarno-Hatta (CGK / WIII) in Indonesia on April 26, 2004.

I personally think CGK is a huge airport and has room for expansion.
With the population of Indonesia, I am sure the aviation industry can be huge provided the government supports it. Eddie : you can start !!!!!!

                  Opps, my mistake.

By the way, i think Air India, Gulf Air, Royal Jordanian, China Southern Airlines have suspended their flights to CGK too because i've never seen their aircrafts here for such a looooong time (correct me if i'm wrong).

Yeah I think you are right about ALIA and GULF AIR. But I am not too sure about AIR INDIA or CSA. I know GULF AIR used to fly 5x weekly from the Gulf cities to KUL and then on to CGK. Even ALIA has suspended their services to KUL for the time being. They used to fly 2x weekly on the AMM-BKK-KUL sector using an A342.

I think they have great competition from EK,GF,QR,SV and Yemenia to KUL. But they are still code sharing with THAI on the BKK-KUL sector.

Gulf Air's KUL flight is now going via BKK (6x weekly 332 if im not mistaken). As for Royal Jordanian, they still have the flight to KUL from AMM 2x weekly via BKK with 313 & sometimes 342.

My mum told me a few years ago that back in the 1980s when they were building the airport Tommy Suharto was in charge of the project and was given enough money build a terminal nicer than that of Singapore Changi. Well we all know how that story went don't we.....

Changi looks old from outside, their T2 is not that great either....... I think CGK airport at the present state has its own charm.

You guys are right. CGK, although I havent been there before, the outlook and first impression looks really unique with the Indon theme and its waiting lounges look like little huts in the sea connected by some bridge. Very impressive I must say. Changi will die off soon when Suvarnabhumi is completed and KLIA takes over as the hub from SIN.

Singapore ahs nothing much to offer in terms of tourism wherelse Malaysia and Bangkok has loads to offer and the transitting pax will be more interested in having a stopover at these two airports rather than SIN.

Changi is nothing great in the inside either. Maybe lots of shopping outlets but surely nothing to shout about. You guys should read the airport forums in www.airlinequality.com
