For those that weren't already aware, you can hunt down your own images elsewhere on the net by dragging and dropping from JP into Google Image search. Simple albeit painstaking.

When someone copied an image of mine here in NZ, a lawyer advised that the copyright claims process can take up to 2 years and if I won I would only be awarded income lost as a result of the infringement, and that's not automatically considered equal to the offender's gain. However it was a manipulated photo, rather than a clear-cut case of copy and paste, nonetheless not very promising advice.

In reality, unless your stolen image is worth a fortune as newsworthy....say, the only image in existence of an A380 doing a wheels up belly landing !! .......or Prince Charles caught in the act with another woman ! .......

......Then the only gain you get is the moral one of publicly showing up the miscreant as a thief and a liar thus bringing their trustworthiness into doubt.

A small......but satisfying victory.

I put a few of my more popular shots into Google like Mungous suggested. A few had been 're-blogged' will full links and credits and no attempt at sale (which I'm fine with). But I found a couple in this Picasa Album (available for sale, albeit with the watermark still there...). There are a few other JetPhotos.Net and Airliners.net photos in there.

If your photo is there, file a copyright complaint with Google and they'll take it down (they did it within 24hrs for me).
