  • Is Mexicana still flying?

Hi, I was looking through flights from various cities in the US to Mexico city on Flightaware and noticed that there are still Mexicana flights scheduled. I'm sure this is some sort of error, right? Thanks!

Mexicana remains grounded but has not filed for liquidation. According to recent reports such as this one, the airline is thinking of cutting its total employees in half and re-starting in December. I would like to see it happen but it will be an uphill climb. Still, hope all employees of MX and its subsidiaries have something good happen for them. Already, airlines are filling the void left by MX, especially on the lucrative U.S.-Mexico routes.

The codeshare flights have not all been wiped from the computers. They have been "zeroed" so you cannot book on them, however they have not been removed. It may take until the major sked change with the time change coming on the first weekend of November to wipe them out.
Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man. Landing is first.

I've heard from friends that the counters in MEX are staffed, very odd.

I was just in MEX the other day and on the apron many many Mexicana airplanes were parked. And during the 2 hours on the Ground I haven't seen a Mexicana airplane taxiing or so. The only thing I saw was a Mexicana airplane on the maintenance area with all the lights on, looked like some sort of check.

I'm guessing they might have a very small skeleton crew staffing the counters to help the few people that may have not learned of their grounding and still arrives for a flight that has long since been canceled.
