  • Cessna 560XL Down in Brazil

Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos is among the fatalities. Reported 10 pax on board. Diverted from Guaruja due to bad weather.

All 2 crew members and 8 PAX confirmed dead.
At least 4 confirmed injured on the ground.
Possibility that 3 others died on the ground (not confirmed). The plane felt in an urban area, in the backyard of a building, also hit some houses.
Eyewitnesses saying the plane collided with an helicopter after aborting the landing procedures due to low visibility. Obviously, yet to be confirmed by invetigation.
One question: does Cessna 560 XL carry FDR and VDR ?

There are witness reports that it was on fire before it crashed, so a collision in IMC would fit that scenario. Definitely more than weather alone, if those reports are reliable...

There's an FDR and a QAR, although they are indicated as (if installed) on the MEL. I doubt there is a CVR.

          Reopening the thread...

Has any of the forum experts been able to colect some straight and "decent" and reliable technical piece of information?

Brand new plane, experienced pilots, bad (a bit cloudy, windy, drizzly into rainy) but not heavy, stormy weather... good visibility (the accident was filmed by small surveillance cameras placed rather distant).

Here in Brazil there's a huge lot of conspiracy theorists (and theories), mainly presenting the accident as due to sabotage of some kind.

OK, the accident promoted a 180º turn in the presidential election but, may I ask again... Has any of the forum experts been able to colect some straight and "decent" and reliable technical piece of information?

Worse... things are moving towards the easy way out: pilots' fault due to work overload and the like.

A couple of facts, inconclusive though... The shift to ground, so abrupt and steep first reports spoke of a chopper, not a plane. The debris found in so small pieces that only DNA (not even dentists) were able to recognise the casualties.

Well, I'm not an expert, but second the question: Has any of the forum experts been able to colect some straight and "decent" and reliable technical piece of information?
