This one unfortunately suffers from softness, compression, lack of contrast, and too wide a crop

    Some points:

    - softness: I din't see why
    - Lack of contrast: the air I think?
    - Too wide a crop? Crop more or less?

As I have a RAW file, I still can adapt things.
I fixed the crop, and the contrast/sharpening on the right side so you can see what to aim for.

      Dear dlowwa,

Thank you so much. This is a really good learning process for me.

I will "play" further with the photo"

      Kindest regards,

        Hello,
Where do I include a date of an scanned image on the upload form or do I have to leave a note to the screeners?

As the system will currently not allow you to select only a year, make your best guess as to the month it was taken, and enter the day as the 1st.

It needs a slightly tighter crop and more sharpening, but the poor contrast might not be fixable.

Is it lack of contrast ?

Sharpening and crop look ok, but like I said, not much you can do about the contrast, you were just shooting in some poor light.

                        Hi,

Does anyone have any advice about how to reduce compression. I only save my images as a JPEG once.

                        Thanks

                          1) use the best JPG quality settings in your camera or even better: save as RAW
                          2) If possible, avoid noise reduction (maybe funny, but true)
                          3) once processing the photo, save only at the very last step, again at the highest quality (i.e. lowest compression or no compression) settings. As an example: in Photoshop it is level 12

                            Hi screeners,

I got this rejection recently and wanted to know is it worth appealing. If not, is it possible to point out where the softness is.

                            Thank you so much.

As I can see it, the original photo is too blurry. I really doubt, it can be brought to an acceptable level.

Any feedback to possibly rework and fix these two rejects (I have the RAW file):
