An Aer Lingus Regional ATR42 had a bit of a lift (involuntary) when it was tipped over on its wingtip by a freak gust of wind yesterday, February 12.
The aircraft was parked at SNN, which has experienced winds of over 80 knots (around 100mph); the ATR, the oldest in the EIR fleet (and indeed, the oldest airliner in the Irish civil register) suffered a collapse of its left MLG and wingtip damage.
It has been intended for some time that the aircraft would be retired, so it seems likely that it will be written off.
