  • TU-204 crash at VKO

    Just now

A passenger jet crashed into a highway after making a hard landing at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport. Four people were killed and four critically injured, says the Interior Ministry. Officials believe the cause could be pilot error.

Horrible news..... Yet again a Russian a/c...

Only 11 pob and 2 died. Must be the flightcrew if you look at the damage.

Pilot's fault. He broke the airplane.

8 on board. No pax. All crew. 4 dead.

Judging by the pics this would have been awful if zee plane was loaded with pax.

much speculation, mostly pilot error + snowy weather, light airplane, go-around, possible engine fire reported, also weight on wheels switch issues on tu-204 possibly causing no spoilers/reversers...

Considering the plane was mostly empty, might that cause the weight switch to not work as expected?

This is awful; if anyone wants to know it is The aircraft was RA-64047. But more importantly rest in peace to those who died and best wishes for the families involved.

This News makes me sad and angry at the same time. The TU-204 is my favourite A/C and it makes me sick in the Guts to see these photos and Videos and think of the unfortunate crew who were killed and injured in this crash.

I don't blame the Pilots, the Aircraft or the Weather. IMO there is one problem with Russian Aviation and more generally in Russia itself. Corruption.

Corruption is a worldwide issue but in Russia the stench of it is overwhelming. The effect is almost complete paralysis of the population inhabiting one of the largest and resource rich regions of the world. With the exception of the minority of grubs who benefit from the filthy system they have created and nurtured, normal life as we know it in the West is impossible in Russia.

As is implementing acceptable safety systems in Aviation or any other Industry for that matter.

May all the Politicians in Russia who happily fill their pockets with the States riches and do nothing to address corruption rot in hell.

This was the third runway overun in a short time of a red Wings Tu-204. The first was blamed external factores other tha the a/c. But the 2nd not.

After today's accident it became known that on Dec 28th Rosaviatsia had alerted the aircraft manufacturer Tupolev of a brakes malfunction as cause of the overrun at Novosibirsk (2nd incident).

Read also some rumours that the Weight on Wheel sensors can freeze up on the Tu-204 so that the Autobrake sytem doens't activate. So no spoilers, reverse thrust and wheel brakes...
After seeing today's crash and conditions this could be a factor.
