Daughter's flight blew a tire on takeoff tonight.
She got to experience the Boeing no-cheap-composite ABS and the effect of pilots standing on the pedals.
It sounded like they were going fairly fast- she said the braking was impressive and that there was a burning rubber smell (Hot brakes I guess).
They stopped on the runway and called out some fire equipment for inspection and were towed in as opposed to powering themselves in.
In a NEAR TOTAL MIRACLE, they got back to the gates in about 30 min and have a new plane available with 'only' a 3-hour delay.
I guess this blew the original pilots duty hours and now they get to ride...The plane hasn't left yet- I hope crew scheduling doesn't mess that up too.
