  • Average fuel costs

Sorry if this has already been asked. What would the average fuel costs be annually for an airline such as Easyjet. I assume it would be into the millions but roughly how much would it be?

Annual reports of an airline are sometimes very helpful to see such costs.

The middle east and N.Africa has the lowest cost according to the IATA site:

Not surprising considering this area has a lot of oil.

I can't find an annual fuel cost for EZY but they reported a £100 million rise in fuel costs in 2011 with an expected £220 million further rise this year.

....and that's just the increases, God knows what the annual bill is.

Total revenue was £3.45 billion to September 2011.

There is plenty of information on fuel costs for easyJet in their annual reports, eg total fuel costs in 2011 were 917 million pounds versus 733 million in 2010.

Thanks for the help! 917 million pounds is pretty expensive although I dread to think of the cost for an airline such as BA, with the older 747s.

You have to look at fuel costs in proportion to total revenues, and in this respect easyJet did pretty well with fuel costing under 30% of total revenues in that year.

Just for information the USAF aviation fuel bill in fiscal 2007 was $5.6 billion.
