First loader completed for 747 Large Cargo Freighter
Boeing supplier TLD has completed the first cargo loader to be used to load the three specially modified 747-400 Large Cargo Freighters that will transport major 787 components. The loader, the longest in the world at just over 118 feet (36 meters), was designed and built by TLD at its facility in Sherbrooke, Quebec. "A robust transportation system is essential to meeting the unprecedented customer demand for the Dreamliner, and a safe and efficient cargo loader is critical," said Scott Strode, 787 vice president of Airplane Development and Production.
