  • Help with rejected image

    Hi,

Got multiple images rejected on contrast and dark/underexposed.

Did follow Brian's famous instructions regarding reading the histogram. Still I find it very difficult to find the right settings, especially with pictures taken in grey and dark weather conditions.

    Examples:

In both pictures the histogram looks alright to me. What can I do to improve these pictures?

    Kind regards,

    Matthew,

Cubana - The whole picture is dark. All the levels are favouring the bottom end of the histogram and the top end does have much level at all. I think an Overall brightness adjust meant would bring it up.

Corsair - Lacking contrast. The Histogram shows the levels do not go all the way you the top and all the way to the bottom. This will be the reason for the Contrast reject. Also there is not just enough level overall and it appears dark.

Even thought the pictures were taken on an overcast day they should still have a bit more overall brightness in them.

Make sure your monitor is calibrated properly. They looked quite dark on my screening monitor.

    Hope this helps

      Thanks Steve for your help.

I'll go back to the drawing board and try again.
