Default My first solo flight

So in a few weeks I will be taking to the skies from Toronto to LAX by myself on Air Canada. This will be the first time traveling alone by air for me and my first time traveling by air to another country.

My main question is, what are the procedures when going through customs? Is it like when I cross the border in a car (give them my passport, answer a few basic question) or is it more complicated (forms, specific lines,)

Haven't posted in a while, hows everyone doing.... that's my last question

customs is easy. just as you said. two forms: an i-94 and a customs declarations form.

Anyone else with me wondering how the three takeoffs and landings went and if they actually clipped his shirt tail?

Not exactly that, but my thought was that with a lot of passengers, a bunch of flight attendants, and two pilots, he will not be so "solo".

solo as in no parents, no relatives and no brother. I'm not worried about navigating the airport, finding my plane, finding my luggage, going through security with my medical stuff or finding my seat on the plane.

I'm only worried about customs as this will also be my first time going to the states without someone else with me.

are you a minor? if so, the fa's will help you with the forms. if not, the customs declaration is available for your perusal here: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/va...ation_form.xml

if you are a canadian citizen, you will not need to fill out the i-94

I'm 19 born and raised in Canada. I think that makes me a Canadian citizen.

I am excited to be flying on my own, it's just I've never flown to the states at all.

Thanks for the help, though

I know and understand your excitement.

I can't help because if I told you what I have to do, I would bore you with things that include requesting a Visa, filling an ESTA, verifying the VWP status, and filling half a dozen of forms, nothing of which apply if you are a Canadian.

It's just that, when I clicked on the thread, I was waiting to learn the story of a student pilot flying without an instructor (or anybody else) with him for the first time. Nothing against you, but having gone through both situations, I can assure you that the excitement of having a plane in your and only your hands for the first time has nothing to with being an unaccompanied passenger for the first time.

if it was within Canada I wouldn't have put the thread up. But I can only imagine what it would be like flying a plane by myself. Maybe some day in the future, but for now, it's going to be mainly me on commercial flights
