  • Trip Report: Shanghai - Hong Kong on Spring Airlines (Airbus A320-200)

    Airline: Spring Airlines
    Flight: 8959
    Aircraft: Airbus A320-214
    Registration: B-6932
Departure Airport: Shanghai-Pudong International (PVG), China
Arrival Airport: Hong Kong - International (Chek Lap Kok), Hong Kong
    Seat: 19A

It is better to start the review saying that the air fare for this 3hs flight was lower than we pay for the same distance in Russia for the hard sleeper in the train. The flight departed from T2. Check-in was quick and well-organized, no lines at all. The airport is modern and clean as well. The terminal is convenient and spacious. Might be good for a long transfer. Security were also polite and efficient.

The bus delivered the passengers to the plane. It should be noted that SpringPlus passengers were given a different comfortable bus, while economy passengers used standard airport bus. SpringPlus also had priority boarding. The whole fleet of the airline is young and consists of A320s. The fleet age of our plane was 1,5 years.

Seat comfort was fair. I'm taller than 180cm and I didn't feel much discomfort on a 3hs flight, legroom is similar to that of some traditional airlines. The only con is that seats do not recline.

We departed a bit late because of the traffic at PVG. For about 20 minutes we couldn't take off, because the planes kept landing on our runway. There were no meals included in the fare. But snacks and food were sold on board, prices were adequate. SpringPlus passengers enjoy free meals, but the price of this class is the same as economy in other airlines.

Cabin crew were smiley and helpful. Before landing they performed the exercises and passengers gladly followed. The flight arrived on time. Can't wait to fly Spring airlines again on my next trip in China.

Strongly recommend this carrier if you're travelling on a budget. They have a wide route network from Shanghai, so you won't have to pay twice more for the service of traditional airlines.
