Well, Mr. Chesley Sullenberger, maybe you read this. And I wish you all the best and ALWAYS happy landings, and the Hudson was no exception to a happy landing. And that is one and only your merit, nobody else did this in such a moment.

I recently watched an interview while you were in Germany and you talked to Ms. Susanne Conrad (ZDF German television). Then I read that you take off again, which in my eyes is the only medicine to handle a mighty deed which you did.

And I wish to fly with one of your flights, I trust you, Mr Sullenberger.

Best regards from EDDL... And of course my dearest wishes for the Winter Holidays.

Default "Miracle" A320 Wreckage to be Auctioned Off

AVweb AVflash

January 21, 2010

The wreck has been stripped of its engines and it's a bit the worse for wear with extensive water damage and impact damage to the underside, but the remains of the Airbus A320 that was made famous in last year's Hudson ditching are about to go on the auction block. Interested parties can contact Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services to get a look at the airframe or click through to visit the Web site's set of 20 detailed photos: http://tinyurl.com/yhc2ba9.

An inspection will be scheduled probably within the next 45 days. The aircraft is for sale "as is" and the buyer must move it from its storage site in Kearny, N.J., by April 10 or take over the storage payments. The wreckage was treated with a corrosion inhibitor last summer, but otherwise has not been repaired. The auction closes March 27.

The auction is open to the general public, according to the Web site, and bids can be submitted online. The Airbus A320, famously piloted by Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeff Skiles, ditched in the Hudson after both engines failed following a bird strike shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York and all on board survived.

Hey, what! All it needs is a little TLC and an awesome set of tools.

Or just think of all the blue leather jackets you can make.

I bid $10.

Absolutely...When you get it - I have a plan so cunning you could stick a tail and four legs on it and call it a ferret (thanks to Lord Blackadder for the last).

It's a pressure hull yeah (albeit a light pressure hull and designed to work in expansion not compression)? How about we seal it properly (actually flick the ditching switch ) add a waterproof set of stairs, rearrange the cabin layout and turn it into an underwater restaurant back in the Hudson!

Ah, my genius has no bounds...

So the lessons learnt involve improved floorbeam on the A320 and new checklist for enginefailure at low altitude,
