Unruly Passenger, 81 and Blind, Causes 14-Hour Emergency Landing
Does there seem to be a trend of many more "disrupted" flights-- by psgrs + crew. (Or are we just hearing about it more?)

so, once again the bullshit continues. my only problems with this are as follows:
1. 2 hour tarmac delay with no a/c, no water, and no food? seriously? at 4 a.m. they had to wait for 2 hours for a gate? horseshit!
2. why not get a crew enroute from FLL sooner?

When you are the cheapest thing in the air, you need to be prepared for the detritus of society. They should have tranquilizer guns as standard equipment. Straightjackets. Nets. Maybe a rubber room in the back. I'm sorry but being the Greyhound of the sky comes with a certain reality. When you are a flying dive dive bar, you need a bouncer. They shouldn't have had to divert for this. This should have been manageable.
Of course, once diverted to an unfriendly airport, it's all a foregone conclusion.
As the man said, you get what you pay for (if you're lucky).

I feel like I just flew on Spirit Air after clicking on that ABC News link. Auto start videos, pop-up ads, cookies, trojans , GMA promos, Stephanofonis' mug shot, overfilled bathroom aroma, ...
My laptop feels violated.

Not that I'm justifying anything... But it would seem that if you have to land somewhere you don't have gates or support services, it inevitably turns into a mess.
Couple that with flight crew not being able to continue the flight, and the A/C has to remain, it's an even bigger mess.
Just sayin' I would be quite bent out of shape as well, but I can see how it would practically go really inconvenient, really fast.

i'm not saying it isn't a mess. what I AM saying is that a 2 hour delay to let people off of a plane at 4 friggin a.m. when there cannot possibly be an excuse of not having a gate available, is just bullshit.
once again, it evinces the industry's true lack of consideration for its raison d'etre--the passengers.

Except that its real raison d'etre is money...

That must explain why I get such impeccable service when I fly, because they put my comfort, convenience, and satisfaction above all else, and don't just see me as a fare to be processed through the wringer. Thank you for clarifying that.

Fact break:
The US aerospace usually does amazing things to serve it's customers at an amazingly reasonable cost.
But, there's some systematic issues that challenge common sense and really screw it's customers.

Good enough...
But probably more accurate than TV saying "total POS crap" and your mention of impeccable service (which may have been sarcastic in some way, but I'm not sure).

What did people do a scant 100 years ago? These lawyer hunting sharks who are so traumatized by a few hours of "nothing to do" need a little perspective. Like when we pulled a surprise "drill" a few years ago (we knew it was coming), one little muffin sat there eating a fresh fruit salad his dear wife made in advance, beeching the whole time since the "rations" catering truck didn't come through.
I finally had it with this "Barbie" and told him "you are eating strawberries, you are warm and dry and no one is shooting at you so shut the fudge up!
They should kick ass and take names on these poor "victims" and they should not be allowed to purchase a ticket on any airline.
Take out your "I-Pad" or whatever and watch Jerry Springer re-runs, if literate, just read a book or take a nap which is exactly what your pathetic self would be doing anyway.
You are now suffering from PTS and will never recover. Do us all a favor and end it, sparing us all of your perpetual moaning. It took you how long? How long to figure out that it is not a perfect world? It's the slow people make it a little less perfect. Please, do the right thing.

ok, so what exactly did i say? my point is simple and i wont repeat it: there is a failure in the industry to give a shit about pax and crew. if left alone, the industry has no qualms about trapping people on an aircraft for 10+ hours. it took an act of congress to scare the money out of the industry's pockets to get them to change the way they do business. yet still they continue on.
