Default Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

after a bench trial (judge only) Osborne was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Yes, but as far as I can tell, once they have the condition controlled, and can show that he does not pose a threat to society, he can be released. This is far preferable to the alternative of being found guilty.

Edit: my understanding is that he will be in a federal mental heath facility until August, when the judge will decide if he is ready to be released or should be committed.

and evan knows this because he read a whole bunch of books and manuals on mental health.

oh, and this has nothing to do with texas other than it taking pace there. this is all federal law and procedure. but i agree that if texas had its way, the guy would be on death row.
