Default Crews Quarantine Airliner At Midway For Medical Emergency

Quote:
CHICAGO (CBS) — A serious medical problem with a passenger on a Delta Airlines flight has led emergency crews to quarantine the plane at Midway Airport.

A source says the passenger on the flight may have been traveling from Ghana and may have some sort or rash and contagious disease. The aircraft, which landed at 3:45 p.m. was identified as Flight 3163 from Detroit. A Center For Disease Control official said it is investigating.

Sounds like it ended up being no big deal. Supposedly passengers and crew has been released from quarantine. Allegedly the passenger only had insect bites.

WTF is this? There's no epidemic in Ghana that I'm aware of. There's no nonstop from Ghana to Midway that I'm aware of either. What are they not telling us here?

What they're not telling us is why this is considered news.

Son says bedbug bites caused rash that locked down flight
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/04/27...#ixzz1tKF89NSD

As usual it seems the news was inaccurate. It now seems the woman might have been coming back from Uganda (not Ghana), and her puss filled rashes are now suspected bed bug bites.

So the flight was quarantined thinking the woman might have moneybox, but it seems she only had bed bug bites.

So if someone on a flight exhibited symptoms of something that might be Ebola or Monkey pox, you wouldn’t want authorities to bother with precautions unless there was a known outbreak in the headlines?

Airplane quarantine scare reminds us we're all at risk

Have you ever been to the quarantine wards on Ellis Island? This is not a new concept.

Have you ever been to Midway?

I doubt he was looking for a tropical "lay over".

For me, the answer to the above two "Q's" is yes. Horrid places both, and bed bugs were mere things of childrens nursery rhyme till the "rash" of illegal immigration started in early 1980's.
