Where to get model plane?
Hi there,
I guess I am the kind of an airline fan in someway. I am trying to get the kind of planes I've flied with in 1:400 scale with a stand. So generally, I will try to get Dragon Wings models. However, Dragon Wings don't make ever single types of airliner. I am still short of the following:
Qantas, 737-300, 737-400, 737-800, 717, 767-300, Dash 8
Jet Star, 717-200, A320
Virgin Blue, 737-700, 737-800, Embar E170
Air China 777-200, A330-300
China Eastern, A300-600
China Southern 737-800
Hainan Air 737-800
Cathay Pacific 777-300, 747-400
Dragon Air A330-300
Singapore Air, 777-200, 777-300, A380
Air New Zeland A320
Where can I get 1:400 scale well made model with stand for those models?
Thanks

You will find them, it just takes time. Its taken me 12 months to find some models on Ebay, and 2 of them came up at the same time.

Does anyone makes models as I've specified above? Does any other model make apart from Dragon Wings produces stand for the model?

By the way, if you want a stand, you can buy them separately. That way, you won't be limiting your search to only the ones with a stand in the package.
I think Gemini makes one that fits most models.

Thank you, can you get the stand on the EBay? How much do they normally charge you for that? How do you attach a stand on to the model? Thank you

No thanks. Ebay's listings fee are too high compared to last year.
As said in the previous post, I only got the SIA 772ER, see link about 10 models down.
Btw All models made by Dragon has a plastic stand included in every pack, Gemini Jets provides only half of its releases with metal stands.
You can check the free aviation collector forums.
Ask them if any of the members got any of those models you listed at the first post. Sometimes it's also cheaper than Ebay, as we go around the high listing fees, initiated by Ebay a few weeks ago.

Happy collecting.

First try a local hobby store. But if that fails, I think you might find some of what you seek here:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_t/...odels&x=5&y=18
There are over 800 models and I'm sure you will find something.

You can buy stands for Gemini jets, they are metal stands. Some... and i mean very few come with stands but Gemini are better quality and typically have a higher return value over Dragon.

Dragon makes a Qantas 733, out of production in 2000. No 737-400 has been made for Qantas, Gemini, Herpa, and Phoenix are the only ones to make a 738. Phoenix makes a 717 for Qantas (LINK), and Big Bird, Phoenix, Aeroclassics, and Gemini are the only ones to make a 767 for Qantas and finally the Dash 8 is only from Gemini.
Phoenix makes both of these models, they even have the Avis and Budget car rental 717's.

The only Virgin Blue aircraft made is the 738 from Gemini, nobody even makes a E170 for anything... yet, that will be Gemini too.

Dragon is working on a 777-200 but has not been released. Also no A333 for Air China has been made, just the A340.
Aeroclassics released two of these aircraft last year. http://www.wings900.com/modeldatabas...iew-16936.html
No China Souther 738 has been made.
Only Herpa has made a Hainan 737-800. I highly recommend staying away from Herpa.

These shouldn't be hard to find. http://www.jetcollector.com/Merchant...roduct_Count=3 I have that one, great model.
Dragon released two of these models, but way back in 1998, so they don't look too great, Phoenix released one a couple years ago.

These should be very easy finds minus the A380 despite dragon as usual over releasing them, the Phoenix one is great!
There one one released from both Dragon and Herpa, both are the same aircraft in the Lord of The Rings livery.
http://www.wings900.com/modeldatabase/ that should help you find them too. It tells you if there are any people looking to sell or trade those models that your looking for.

Thanks guys, you have all be very helpful. I've purchased a Phoenix JetStar A320, and a Gemini metal stands on Ebay. I am very happy with it. There is a hole on the bottom of the model which allow me to attach the metal stands in it. There is a hole for all the Phoenix model right? What about those Gemini Jets models come without a stands. I guess I might just buy stands separately if I can do that. By the way, does anyone making Tiger Airways models?

Yes all my Phoenix models have come with the hole, in fact their molds are from Gemini anyway, and yes all Gemini's also are stand capable. As for the tiger airways, phoenix made one.

Unlimited space ? No need for the stands, if not, buy them seperately.

Congrats on your purchase. glad to hear you like it. Btw I don't have my items on Ebay. Their listing fees are too high.

Phoenix: From experience, yes I haven't seen a single model without the stand-hole.
Gemini: Yes they do have the standholes as well even if there isn't a stand in the box. I don't know what determines a model to go with a stand or without. But anyhow you can just buy them seperately if you want them on inflight mode, most of my models I prefer having them on ground mode. I only put them on stands to save space.

Phoenix makes lots of 1:400 and 1:200 models of asian carriers. As for retailers, I'd recommend Airlinemuseum.com, justplanefun.com, and ebay. For a last resort, try airplaneshop.com as well as stores in Las Vegas, New Jersey, and Miami but the mark ups are huge, sometimes 10, 15 dollars more than average.
