I have not gotten a chance to download it yet. I can't wait.
Stuart, maybe you should wait and order a copy of FSX with SP1 included.

The odds of SP1 being in a on-shelf DVD are very low unless you wait for months. Tis best to just buy it and spend the 20 minutes downloading the 200MB pack.
It's great for me, tastes good, less filling, etc.

I wonder if the performance gains are anything noticeable. Doesn't really mean much if it just boosts it from 2 fps up to like 8.

I installed it, upped the settings a lot, and still noticed a massive improvement.
For those of you who don't want to buy FSX yet because your PC's are not up to scratch, buy it, download and install this, and you should be ok.

I have a decent PC, although hardly used FSX because of the performance issues. Giving this a go though.

Ok, so I guess I'll move all the addons for now...and then run the service pack. Damn it. I actually need FSX tonight for a Final Physics project.

Just had a play with one of the missions - performance is greatly improved on a middle-of-the-road system.
Time to re-instate the addons I think!

What are you working on that requires FSX for a project?

I have to do a presentation Tuesday about something physics related. I chose aerodynamics, then from that chose wake turbulence. I decided for my visual aide to make a video re-enacting and explaining the Delta DC-9 crash at DFW and maybe the USair 734 at PIT.

Damn, got a problem here.
So I took out all my addons, used to "Repair" option with FSX. Ran the service pack. It worked great, but many scenery areas were missing (Mainly regions like Northern Cali in which I had addon scenery installed and moved). After a sucessful test run, I move the folders back to the FSX folder, however this included the main texture folder and such, and therefor replaced files and screwed up FSX again.
Any advice?
