  • Since when is Continental the worlds 7th largest airline?

    Title says it all, they used to be the worlds fifth, now seventh?
    Also CO introduces service to Oslo, Norway from Newark with a 757



    They used to be right behind NW which is the worlds 4th largest airline!

      5 & 6 depending what item is taken into account can be filled by
      All Nippon
      Japan Air Lines
      Southwest
      British Airways/Air France/Lufthansa

          -passengers carried and
          -fleet members
          on whichever the publication (ATW, Airways .... )

              Haha, good one Jeff!

              Actaully, SWA is the 6th largest in the USA, not the world.

              AA, UA, DL, NW, and WN are pretty much solid in their positions as of now. The weird thing is that CO and US keep flipping around from #5-#7, although they always fill those spots. I think #8 is America West, #9 is Alaska (??), and #10 is ATA.

              Again, this is on a USA-wide basis, not a worldwide basis.

                I know this isn't exactly on topic, but I thought there was some question about whether United is still 2 in the United States because of all of the service they've been cutting.

                  It's all relative to the category.

                  There's # of passengers boarded
                  # of flights per day
                  Load factor

                    UA is not #2 anymore, neither in terms of pax nor in terms of RPMs and ASMs. By pax, AA leads before DL and I believe WN already is third in terms of pax.
