                Up to no good.

Seriously, its a combo of me celebrating my 21st bday this week with a friend of mine who is working his last trip on SWA. So I am going on a 4 day trip covering those cities, routes and his overnights involve GEG and SJC respectively and he asked me to come along for his last trip

On further note, it looks like a trip to Anchorage will be taking place in March.

Never flown with them myself, nor have any great desire to do so. From reports I have heard they are pretty poor, im sure you will have no problem, but the lack of profesionalism with their dealings leaves, shall we say, a lot of room for improvement.

For me, possibly HKG-BKK, in the next few days.

Pretty sure I did domestically a few times in the PRC.

The safety cartoons on the screen are disturbing to watch. I flew first once because they were charging me extra for my luggage weight, I upgraded and they waived the fee. They treat you right but it's similar to first on the wes anderson flick "Darjeeling Limited" If you eat the food be prepared to be losing it later from both ends in 3 hours. Other than that, it took off and landed safely and I lived to tell the tale.

                            Good luck!

                            • I haven't really heard much good news about the airline except that they get you where you want to go. I'll find ways to keep my mind occupied for 14 hours.

Had to change my LAX-ORF flight to

                              DL610 LAX-JFK June 18
                              DL6049 JFK-ORF June 19

This gives me 9 hours at LAX....any ideas of things to do? I'll have a suitcase with me that I won't be able to check until 4 hours prior, are there any lockers?

LAX is horse-shoe shaped with 8 terminals, they all suck unless you belong to some VIP lounge, then maybe it's not as bad. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure most terminals are not linked. This requires you to go beyond security. Tom Bradley International Terminal has the best selection of eateries. Then there's "Aqua" a over-priced something or other in LAX's famous center observation deck but if you got that far, for god sake man, get out of dodge!

First, lockers are banned at LAX but there are now baggage services in place: http://www.lawa.org/lax/tenantlaxres...ax&s_airport=4

I'd imagine your 9-hour layover could be as expansive as your financial resources. Knowing cab fare+storage costs, if you wanna get out, I'd spend 60USD or less and rent a car; then the bag is with you. Thrifty is usually the cheapest and if you want to leave the airport grounds, it's probably cheaper than the combined total of baggage service + taxi. Plus they'll tell you where to go for sure. There are Rent-a-car transit stations in baggage and shuttles will pick you up and take you to the rental place. If you pre-arange, it's even easier.

                                Anyway, here are some suggestions:

                                1. Plane Spotting: Join the nerds at the north runway (31 R?). A relatively unknown little park next to the In N Out burger offers a prime spot so see large Jets land. Exit to Sepulveda North, just after you'll see the In N Out on the left, keep going straight and make a left just after the parking garage, turn around, park have a burger and enjoy.

                                2. Dining: You're a short cab ride or drive away from nice places just outside of LAX. Marina Del Rey is a Traffic Free ride north and there are tons of places in that area. Exit to Sepulveda North, go LEFT on Lincoln blvd, keep following and the Marina will be on your left after like 5 miles.

                                3. Venice Beach: If you ignore Marina Del Rey and keep going north on Lincoln, you'll run into Venice blvd, make a left and find parking wherever. Won't be much activity going on during Wednesday but worth a look. It's not a beach you'd want to swim in though, it's more of a young boardwalk atmosphere.

                                4. Interesting Place: There's also some strange restaurant/airplane museum place at the edge of the south runway..I've never been, always wanted to check it out.. Exit Century Blvd, follow out of the Airport .75 miles. Make a Right on Aviation and it will be on your Left. I should mention there are all kinds of hotels, restaurants, places along Century, but really kind-of blaa..

                                5. Manhattan Beach: If you want a nice Beach to lay on, from LAX go South. Exit Sepulveda SOUTH and follow it for about 4 miles to Manhattan Beach. Make a Right on Rosecrans and it will spit you right into the water. You'll come to Highland Av were you'll probably find parking or you can try the lots if you keep going straight. Good places to eat, nice ocean atmosphere, total So Cal Vibe.

I think if you really want a good California experience and the day is nice, do #4 (EDIT I mean't #5), you can't go wrong. My advice, stay off the freeways, stick to N/S Lincoln, N/S Sepulveda. I'd recommend not going Inland (East) unless you really know where you're going. Anywhere directly east of LAX for 20 miles or more is just no fun at all if you know what I mean. I should know, I work there. Check LAX out on google maps, you'll see the places I'm mentioning are really close and worth it if you wanna kill some time.

Hope you enjoy this book. Good luck with China Eastern. Enjoy the fast.[B]
