  • Baggage Handler Locked in With Luggage on Flight From North Carolina to Dulles

    Oops!

A baggage handler spent a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to northern Virginia locked inside the plane’s cargo hold Sunday afternoon.

At some point during United Express Flight 6060, someone notified the tower in Charlotte a man might be locked in the baggage compartment.

    The FAA also is investigating.
"We'll determine whether the baggage contractor has proper procedures to ensure all personnel are out of the cargo hold before the doors are closed and whether the company was following them,"
Obviously, it can't be both or this would not have happened.

      Ummm....OK....But:

...to some extent, the existence of aviation safety discussion fora live off of 'proper procedures' and 'were they followed'...

      But Moreso:

...are they 100% fool proof (or just 99.something% fool proof), and 'were they almost always followed really darn well, but maybe a very slight human factors issue got 'em'...

No major fault with the FAA statement.

"Police wanted to make sure he really was a baggage handler and not a stowaway."

Because if you desperately want to get to Dulles from Charlotte NC, these are the lengths you'll to go... . .. .

Another catnap on the job or a slack jawed yokel, I reck'n.
