  • Strange ghostlights while night-photographing

    Hello,

I was taking some long time exposure lately and noticed something I don't like.

Just look at the picture and you will see what i mean:

I was using the Canon 70D together with the Canon 70-200mm f/4 USM, no filter attached.

My question to the people who do such pictures, too: Is this normal? How can I prevent such ghost lights?

Canon support says that this comes from the lens - but if I look through the viewfinder I don't see the effect. It is only visible on the final pictures and in Live View.

I really hope you can help me.

Thanks for your help and kind regards

    Dominik

Possibly light reflecting off the glass lens? Were you using a lens hood when you took the image?

      Thank you for your answer,

but if the reflection happens inside the lens, wouldn't I see the ghostlights in the viewfinder, too?
Yes, the lens hood was applied.

      regards
