  • Boeing 747-400 wing questions

    Hi,

I am looking at the wing dimensions on the 747-400 and see that the wingspan on the -400 is lager then the classics wingspan (211 ft 5 in (64.4 m) in comparison to 195 ft 8 in (59.6 m)), except the 747-400D which has the same wingspan as the classics.

I know that it is possible to take of the winglet on the 747-400 and be left with the wingspan of the -400D.

And what is then the advantages and disadvantages of these?

And what dimensions and weight specifications do the 747-400 winglet have?

These are the measurements I need.

Hum. Was it your friend that, some weeks ago, asked me about the price for a

    B744 starboard winglet?!

Let me tell you what all jp members can read at lufthansa dot com:
    length: 70,66 m
    wingspan: 64,44 m
MTOW: 394,000 kg or 875,000 lb

You ask me what is the advantage of a LH-B744?! Well, probably you ask the wrong person!

Easily more than 350 pax find a seat in a three-class-configuration (e.g. 67 C/32 E/272 M). My favourite airline only owns 1 type, that combines
    a quite modest wingspan
    with a
pax capacity of more than 350.

    LH-B744.

[You probably asked the wrong person. I don't really know an alternative... ]

PS: And, but you shouldn't tell the French about that, LH continues the 747 history since 1970.
The German long haul is alive, 65 years and still kicking.
The Gold Member in the 747 club, 50 years since the first LH 747.
And constantly advanced, 744 and 748 /w upper and lower EICAS.
