The opening scene is of a Saturn launch vehicle then it switches to an early Atlas launch vehicle; some combined the two scenes to make the YouTube video.
Early launch vehicles were not that reliable and two causes of destruction are faulty/non-performing hardware or a launch vehicle departing from its planed trajectory. In both cases the vehicle either self-destructs or is command destructed from the ground.
Not many people are aware that the Space Shuttle had a command destruct system (the two solid rocket boosters were purposely destroyed on the final Challenger flight).
