  • Doncaster Sheffield EGCN

... is a small airport (less than 700,000 pax in 2013).

But in the last seven days, one or two very famous people died.

And one of them was born in a town which is linked to my town since 1950.

    Outer ring "Sheffield" motor way.

Joe Cocker from Sheffield died at the age of 70,
and by the help of... all drugs that were available in the market since 1940...

So after all, in my eyes it was a logical consequence. You can't reach 100 years if you were participating in Woodstock without one toe on the brake (cp James Dean) ...

And I would not write one word, if I had not one or two of his LPs.
    A sad thing.

The generation of my father, -1 again.

Thank God, there are men from 1942 or older, who still go on tour in Germany.
And I love those "alte Hasen", as we say in German.

PS: After 5 or 10 minutes I have found at least a silver disc (not a black disc) in my audio stock, that to me more or less sounds drug free. And imho it belongs to one of his best discs. You don't have to visit my profile to see why this ole bugger still uses the word "disc"...
    °°°Joe Cocker LP "Organic" (1996)
+ Many rivers to cross, ... I am lost, ... the white cliffs of Dover.
+ Sail Away, in America... you'll be happy as a monkey in a monkey tree, we'll cross the mighty Ocean ...

°°°Joe Cocker Single (what later was called a 'Maxi') "I can Hear the River" (1991).
And this disc came with a cover where he almost seemed like me, although in those days he was 10 years older than I am now.
So, his drugs must have really become bad when he grew older than... 50?!

Imho there are two reasons to smile. Joe Cocker showed me what good music is. And christmas after all is still a birthday. So, let us celebrate him,
with a little help of all of his friends.
