Two men have been arrested on suspicion of endangering an aircraft after a plane was escorted to the ground by fighter jets.

    ......

"The cabin crew informed us that basically (the men) tried to come into the cockpit a few times," passenger Umari Nauman told Sky News.

"Because they had been asked not to do that, they got into a bit of an argument with the crew and made a few threats."

Another passenger, Shahid Yaqoob, told Express News: "There was a conflict between two passengers after one of them got into a confrontation with the stewards.

maybe it's being hypersensitive/reactive, but if i'm onboard and a pax tries to get into the cockpit, i'm gonna take him out. no questions, no excuses. i'll deal with the charges later on.

TeeVee, usually our thoughts drift to such high minded ideas of what we might have done. While (of the suspected culture) most are not of an athletic persuasion, that one kid involved in the Boston incident gave me pause. I would have, despite a daily one hour training regimen, lost against him. He was 200 pounds of well trained fury. The only hope would be that he wasn't prepared to deal with a lower extremity attack. Yeah, he's probably the exception but when is the last time you have been in a scrap?

It is a positive thing however, what you profess. I for one will not stand by and let myself be led to slaughter while doing nothing. If I'm going to die, it will not be a passive and quiet death but I'll go kicking and screaming with tears in my eyes.

A samurai wakes every morning and does not think about dying for he is already dead by virtue of his occupation. I'm not Japanese but when I read it, it made perfect sense.

Were they on long or short final? They should have just showed them the door and sent them on their way.
Live, from a grassy knoll somewhere near you.

it doesn't take much to take a man down, if, of course, you know what you're doing. a little bit of training can teach one how to do it. it does, however require a no holds barred attitude. when you strike, you strike to kill or disable permanently--very quickly. none of the hokey crap they teach about inflicting pain to disable the person temporarily. more often than not, that fails. and hitting the jewels doesn't always do as much damage as most think.

i haven't had a scrap for a very long time. the last was in self-defense when i was a medic. i was being choked from behind and nearly didn't make it. suffice to say, i got lucky and my attacker is no longer with us.

as you mentioned though, it's not about being guaranteed to succeed in taking out a would be hijacker or troublemaker. it's about, not going out willingly or sitting idly whilst sipping a drink.
