  • How will Boeing name their A/C after the 797?

After the 797 has been created, what will Boeing name their A/C? Will it be the 808 and if so what can we expect this A/C to be?

Maybe they will do it with letters, like 7E7.

How in the world would any JP member know this? Unless you are interested in what some random 12 year old armchair CEO thinks he knows because his father's friend's roomate's 2nd cousin, twice removed, allegedly works for Boeing.

In other words, your guess is as valid (or invalid) as anyone's on this matter.

It will be 8X8, to appeal to the Asian market.

Oh wait, they said that about the 7E7 as well .

When the decision was made to on the 787 name, the program manager said that left only 797, and after that naming the airplanes would be someone else's problem.

I know its unrelated, but Peugeot cars have done that....the new city car is a 1007 unlike the usual naming convention using the x0x format (ie 307, 406, etc), so theres an option for Boeing..

Not that dumb... its was the designation of the not-built Boeing SST:

                      Wow what a dumb question.

First of all, Boeing would NEVER name an aircraft with a number other than 7.

And, what Will said. You are asking a dumb question to a bunch of dumb people (myself included) because none of us know the answer.

Except maybe that 787 tech, but I doubt he knows either.

                        I don't know, either.

Despite what everyone else is saying I think this was an interesting question.
Remember before the 787 was given that designation, Boeing's CEO stated that "7E7" couls stay as the title. In all reality after they run out of numbers and we all know that Boeing loves using the "7" then letters seem logical. Maybe we could expect to see 7A7 or 7L7?
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.
