By the way - is Hop! fo Air France intended to be an LCC like the new Germanwings? From what I have read and heard so far it's more like streamlining the Air France regional branches and modelling them according to the KLM Cityhopper concept.
There are speculations that KLM Cityhopper will be part of a new venture under the AirFrance-KLM umbrella to operate like the planned germanwings-ops for Lufthansa.

Air Inter was just a French domestic airline and as far as I know domestic only, hence the "Inter" titles. It was later merged with Air France (both of them being government owned).
Correct. At a later stage Air Inter also operated some international flights on behalf of Air France (I think Madrid etc.). The business of Air Inter was very basic. Later Air Inter became "Air Inter Europe" before Air France absorbed the entire operation. So you are right.

I don't know the route, it's in their statement (55€) I meant its not cheap but also not expensive (sorry, auto-correct) but, as we all may know, RYR fares aren't always cheap either

These days, all airline prices are "from" prices, so what you will pay in the end depends very much on the demand for the particular flight you would like to book.

As for Hop! for Air France, with the info given so far, they will not follow Lufthansa's idea of "Lufthansa light in Germanwings wrappings" but will just consolidate their regional operations according to the Cityhopper concept.

            More information here:

"Air France revealed the name and commercial offering of its new regional airline, HOP!

            http://corporate.airfrance.com/en/pr...s-new-airline/"

This is quite obviously not an LCC but a new brand of regional airline.

I think for the general public it should be obvious that the aircraft does a "hop" for Air France, not the passengers. Also bear in mind that for the majority of the potential "Hop for Air France" customers English isn't the first language, so many nuances or possible interpretations are lost to them. (Germany is especially notorious for picking up only seemingly English phrases and slogans.)
This reminds me of when Atlantic Southeast Airlines/ASA changed their name to "Surejet" before the integration into Expressjet. People heard of the name and laughed. After that, they kept the original name. I think people would see hop as another silly name and go for the low fares instead. You may have some brand loyal passengers, but that is only a select few from the others.

Make no mistake - Hop for Air France is not about low fares but about integrating several regional airlines into one brand which makes a lot of sense from a marketing perspective. I think given the success of KLM Cityhopper, it's not unreasonable to assume that passengers won't have a problem with the new AF regional brand and they won't have a problem with the name.

On a side note, I think that the vast majority of the general public don't really care or are even genuinely unaware of what aircraft or even airline they travel on. The community here on the jetphotos.net forums is definitely NO indication at all of how the general public perceives the image of an airline or aircraft

I love to see their faces when they walk down the jetbridge and see an ERJ-145 or CRJ-200 and notice how small it is. I just say "You get what you pay for" when they start talkking about the size.

Aircraft size has no relation to ticket price.

I understand that, I was just comparing what you said about passengers not caring or are unaware of the aircraft type and airline. Passengers pay different amounts but not care about what aircraft they are flying or airline, even if it is a regional jet. Passengers are used to large aircraft but may not know the size comparison if they ride on a regional jet.

I do as well. After seeing it, I understand the concept well. "Hop for Air France" on the fuselage is quite interesting - if you are in an area that does not command a main-line AF service, you hop onto 'Hop!' to get to one. To be honest, the multiple carriers operated under the AF Reigonal brand was getting messy. Behind the scenes, each airline rivaled their siblings, with different pay scales, different crew lists et al. It's a smooth move, by AF, that will likely lower costs for them, under one larger company. Ideally, consolidation will allow another company to enter, and bring costs down for consumers - keeping Hop lean.

What's the call sign for the new carrier?
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

the 3 carriers (BritAir, Régional and Airlinair) will remain separate, but somehow together.... the new carrier is managed by ex-Airlinair as well as is the call sign, which is Airlinair callsign
