Good Evening JetPhotos Members,

Recently a well known JetPhotos photographer chose to adjust the attitude of a landing aircraft artificially in order to become more dramatic. This was discovered after acceptance and the photo was removed and the photographer reminded, politely, of our rules.

Unfortunately more uploads were then noted with considerable modification that met our definition of digital manipulation. As a result we had no choice but to advise the photographer that he could no longer upload at JetPhotos, a disappointing result.

We feel it is a timely reminder that our expectation is that photos of aircraft on our site are as they were seen by the photographer on the day. Whilst processing of the frame is expected, artificially adjusting colour, aircraft state, registrations or other gross changes cannot be tolerated.

Unfortunately this means that some frames can simply not be accepted to this site. If you take a photo of a subject only to find it is too low in...

OAG awards

http://www.oagairlineawards.com/Winners

I would like to know how these awards are decided? In particular how can a basket case of an airline such as British Airways win anything, let alone world's "best Economy Class"? Their staff are rude, tired and ugly, the pilots smash the landing gear onto the runaway so hard that every landing feels like a crash, their cabins are dirty and smelly and their IFE rarely works. But my main problem with them is their idea of a baggage service. You can forget about going to the Carousel to pick up your baggage, instead the standard procedure is for them to deliver it to your house in one their vans 3 days later. Not to labour the point but their Cattle Class product is an extreme insult to Cattle and I sure as hell wouldn't let my Cattle fly with them. Best economy class my a__.

Or how can LHR (which was recently voted the world's worst airport in another survey) receive high commendation? In the words of John McEnroe they "cannot be serious"....

The one award I do agree is deserved in LAN's award for best airline based in South America/Carribean. If you ever want to enjoy traveling in a really comfortable aircraft flown by a really crack airline then try LAN's Santiago-Sydney service. I travelled the SYD-AKL-SYD legs with them earlier this month and their service, aircraft and IFE is simply superb. Our 2 toddlers didn't even look like getting bored on either of the 3 hour flights.

So anyway congrats to them for their award and to Singapore Airlines for again winning Airline of the Year (whom I have never flown with but by all accounts are top notch).

U.S. Flights Delayed, Canceled Because of FAA Computer Glitch

An FAA computer malfunction involving access to flight plans caused nationwide flight cancellations and delays Thursday, forcing travelers to scramble to make other arrangements or wait for hours at the airport.

The glitch was fixed by mid-morning, but travelers continued to feel the effects throughout the day.

Though I suppose allegedly this was probably claimed not to be a threat to safety. I can't help but suspect that abstractly this could affect safety and in combination with other problems could have cascaded into a dangerous situation.

Hello everyone – I have tried researching this subject before posting my question. With your information I hope to make a sound decision.

I have heard many great comments regarding MAC computers for which I am considering switching to a MAC platform from a PC. My preference would be a desktop but I have not ruled out a laptop.
<O:p
Does the MAC version of Photoshop provide enhanced processing and increased editing capabilities that are not available on the PC version of Photoshop? In other words, is there a technical and / or hardware advantages over the PC when editing with the MAC version Photoshop or is this just a personal preference with no real inherent processing/editing capabilities other than look and feel?
<O:p
Thank you in advance for your kind and informative comments.

I don't think Skyteam lost any market share as such in the Latin American/South American market since between DL/NW and US, it has that covered. Maybe not as deep as CO's but pretty big nonetheless. Star also re-gained one of the prime routes it lost between New York City and London, also a big gain.

Dubai Airshow

Emirates is looking at placing an order for more Airbus A380s and other aircraft as the airline is reevaluating its fleet plans in the wake of the economic downturn and a changed schedule for the new Dubai International Airport.

President Tim Clark told AviationWeek that Emirates could use an additional 20 A380s on top of its existing order for 58 aircraft. Whether it goes ahead with its plans will depend greatly on whether Dubai International Airport can accommodate the additional aircraft at the existing facilities, and at the new Terminal 4, which is currently under construction.

One important reason behind the considerations is the delayed construction of Dubai's new al-Makhtoum International Airport in Djebel Ali. Although the first stage of the new site will be opened by next summer, Clark says it will take eight years for the facility to have been sufficiently expanded for Emirates' needs.

But major construction work has been pushed back by Dubai's government because funding has proved difficult as a result of the global financial crisis. Dubai as a whole has pulled back significantly on many of its prestige projects such as two more artificial palm islands off its coasts and a new world's tallest building, Al-Burj.

If Emirates wants to expand further, it will have to use larger aircraft because DXB's two-runway system has limited capacity. "The reason why we initially ordered 58 A380s was because we could not fit any more into the existing infrastructure," says Clark. "We are now talking to the airport about how to accommodate more."

A new supplementary fleet plan is also evaluating if Emirates could pick up delivery slots freed up by other airlines. The airline would likely look at more Boeing 777-300ERs. Its existing order for 70 A350s might be changed, too.

Today, the airline has signed up for 50 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s, "but we might invert that" to increase capacity. Emirates is also looking at a letter of intent signed last year for 30 Airbus A330-300s and A350s. It was supposed to have been converted into a firm order by the end of 2008, but Emirates did not go ahead due to the economic uncertainty. But Clark said Airbus has reassured the airline that the deal is still in place from its point of view. Clark indicates that the A330s could end up being too small given the slot constraints at its home base.

Separately, Emirates may delay the phase out of aircraft that it was planned to start in mid-2010. Between 2010 and 2013, the airline wanted to get rid of its 29 A330-200s, all remaining 777-200s and 777-300s, as well as its A340-300s. That process could now start several months later in order to provide interim capacity.

Clark says Emirates would sell the 10 A340-500s it has because they have turned uneconomical with the high fuel prices, but there are no buyers. The carrier is no longer considering an order for the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental because it believes that before long the A380 can do the missions from Dubai to the U.S. West Coast.

Emirates currently has 53 A380s on firm order in addition to 70 A350s and 23 Boeing 777-300ERs.

This is good news in the eyes of Airbus I bet. Interesting plan they have for fleet expansion but ultimately it all depends on two factors: 1) if the world economy begins to turn around as predicted and 2)whenever the al-Maktoum International Airport is complete. I wonder how long is too long for whenever Emirates is able to launch the A380 to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
