Hi all- flying PHX_JFK_Regan and back this coming week, and am flying on Delta 757 & MD*88. Tried to look for some nice cabin shots, but some of the cabins looked pretty grimy... Anybody flown on these a/c w/ Delta recently?

THx.

Last ones I were on was in August. The 757 I was on (N690DL) has to have the oldest looking interior I've seen on a 757 (although I think it may be second-hand)...a lot of the 757s are in really good shape- you should have a good ride. This 757 looked kinda yellow on the inside.

As for the MD-88, it's a pretty cramped feeling airplane, even if you're short (5'5" here), although it's OK for what it's worth. I like the 2-3 configuration they have.

I was on N998DL, an MD-88 last month from MSP-ATL which is about a 2-2:30 hour flight. It could use a little sprucing up but I thought the seats and the legroom was great. I was really comfy the whole flight. I love Delta's MD-88's. Sorry I haven't been on a 757 in a long time so I don't remember it to well.

I have never flown the 757 with Delta, but I have been on the 757-200 on ATA and I liked the plane, it is actually pretty comfortable, and very long.

Enjoy Your Trips!

Thanks everybody! I'm really looking forward to flying the airlines again- haven't since last March, so this'll be great.

DeltaRules- I hope I'll be okay- I'm 6'3"!

Thanks guys- happy contrails.

Last time I flew on a DL MD-88, it was on a full ATL-CHS leg. The aircraft was in very poor condition. The tray table only attached on one end, and the seats were loosing their covering and caving in. The overhead bin wouldn't stop rattling, either. I couldn't wait to get off that plane! I have had some great experiences on 757s. I really like the Delta interiors with the headrests. The last 757 I flew on was also on the ATL-CHS leg (It was the Soaring Spirit!!!!). Although somewhat lacking in legroom, these planes are great to fly on!

FlyCharlestonSC- thank you for that...comforting Mickey-D report!

I'm pretty spoiled from my last flight- British Airways 777- so I don't think I'll enjoy this one AS MUCH, but I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

I last flew on a DL 752 SEA-ATL last month. This was my first time on a DL 752. Horrible flight. :nonono: It wasn't the airline it was the plane. Little leg room, no airconditioning, and worst of all they assigned me to the row with no window! :( Kinda scary cause you can't see when you land and stuff. Make sure that doesn't happen to you. I really hope all DL 752s aren't like this.

When I connected in ATL my flight to TPA was dowgraded from a 763 to a Md88. Although I wanted to fly the 763, the flight actually wasn't bad. The air conditoning worked great (lol) and the seats felt comfier (is that a word?). Also the Md88 seemed more roomy. :)

It really depends on which 757 you get. If you get one in the NNC livery the interior will should be nice, relatively clean. If you get a Widget or NOC livery the interior will might be soso to poor. This is becuase they redo the interiors as they do the heavy maintenace on the aircraft and they usually paint them at this point too. Over the summer I was on a widget 763 and the interior sucked. However 2 summers ago I was on a NNC 763 and the interior was nice and "updated". So it just depends on which 757 you get.

It's been almost 4 years since I've flown on one of Delta's 757s, but the two flighs on them were like night and day. The first time was on a BOS-ATL flight, and my seat in coach had some harsh seat pitch, I had to contort myself in order to stretch out. It was one of the first 757s in the Deltaflot scheme, and the interiors did look better. The second time was on a DCA-ATL flight, sat in the first row of coach, which had pretty decent legroom even with the bulkhead. The interior was looking a bit ragged, but not too badly. Only 4 of DL 757s came from another operator (N750AT, N751AT, N752AT, and N757AT are all ex-ATA birds. ATA sold off their P&W powered 757s in favor of RB-211 (which also power their L-1011s) powered 757s).

That's true, because the 757 I was in the Deltaflot colors, whilst the nicer Md88 was in new colors.

That's horrible NWA_A330....

I kinda figured Airbus_A320- I think the one I've seen fly in to PHX is in the new scheme, so I'm hoping it's been refitted.

Thanks everbody!

...assigned me to the row with no window! :(...)

I've heard about this row before. What row is it? We're flying a DL 757 ATL-NAS in a couple of weeks and i'd like to know which row to avoid choosing.

I was assigned to the row with no window on an F100 once! So wierd! When the plane turns, you find your face pushed up against the wall listening to the engine. I really hated it!

While were on the subject of no-window rows..... i'm gonna be on a song 757 in august in row 11. Hows this row?

Yea i checked there and t says it's a regualar seat. But somone on here said seat guru has made some mistakes in the past so i was just checking to be sure. (not that i could do anything about it as the tickets are already booked)

I've found DLs 75s to be not too bad, just not good for longhaul. If you get one of the 757s with the leather headrests, that will make the trip much better. I've been on about 8 757s from MCI-ATL, and they really arent bad for a 1:30 flight. The pitch is not bad at all (i'm 6'4)...so i dont think you'll have anything to make your trip bad!

I'm don't remember exactly.. but it was two, maybe three rows back from the wall that seperates coach, from first class.

EDIT: Row 21 and 22 don't have windows. http://seatguru.com/delta/B757.shtml

On DL, rows 21 and 22 are missing a window, try to avoid them

Just curious - Why don't rows 21 and 22 have windows?

FlyCharlestonSC

I can understand why the back rows in a rear engined a/c don't, but I have no idea...

I've seen it talked about on this forum b4, and i believe the consensus was that it was for Wires and airconditioning systems....but i could be wrong, so dont hold me to it :shakehea:

Don't worry about it, you're right :D . On the topic, my last experiences with DL 757s where positive. I don't remember the tail numbers but on the ATL-JAX/JAX-ATL legs, the cabins were clean and didn't look too old. Seats where also in good condition, although the TVs in the aisle weren't working.

I flew N665DN from LAS-ATL this past Saturday. That was my first experience on a DL 752 and I wasn't exactly impressed. The legroom for the 3:30 flight was not what I would call "comfortable." I sat in 39F which offered a pretty nice view but overall if given the option I will not fly a 75 again.....thsoe 76s spoil me

My first 757 flight was on delta going to ATL from BOG; i was travelling in N751AT i think, the plane was horribly old in the inside, i've seen Aces 727's that looked newer, what a shame, i have a very bad memory cuz i was on the row before the exit windows, so no recline during a 5 hour flight.

The flight back was in another 757, looked very old also, and i had to fly in the no window row, i almost got mad.

the leg room isn't very confortable, and the FAs are rather bad, but the food is far better than in Avianca

Okay everybody- made it back alive after a near crash :( (hit severe wake turbulence while over the runway and flipped our right wing up- pilot corrected hard, and was so bad we had to go around- I seriously thought we were going to have a wing-strike. My first wake turbulence experience!), and since I don't have the time to write a quality, complete flight review, I'm just going to do this.

Here's how I flew:

PHX_JFK on 752
JFK_DCA on M88
DCA_JFK on M88
JFK_PHX on 752

I'm not a 757 fan, but they were all right. They had the new interriors and bins and all, so the interrior was pretty clean and nice. I had enough legroom (until this lady in front of me and her two screaming children reclined for the entire flight back to PHX- but I guess if I had two kids I'd be tired too), and drink service came around three times ( ) going to JFK, and twice coming back. The flight attendants were acceptable, but one was great (like the perfect f/a- completely passionate about her job, interacting w/ pax, gives you the can, etc.) on each 757 flight.

The M88s connecting to DCA were also nice. I had more legroom on the M88s than on the 757s. I was surprised at how quiet they were (I was in the middle- I know, not next to the engine, but still)- I was expecting a loud flight from hearing everybody always complaining about them, but it was nice. JFK_DCA was a less than perfect landing, but I'd be wanting to set her down instead of overrunning into the Potomac, so I don't blame him, and the DCA_JFK landing was sweet considdering those wheels don't have that much hydraulic cylinders or whatever they're called to absorb the shock.

Overall I was happy with service and aircraft. I liked the M88s the best!- legroom is savored when you're 6'3"! :smilewin:
