Sorry I haven't typed this sooner--things here have been pretty hectic.

Anywhoo, here's my youth group trip to DC :D :

2-13-04 (Friday)
CHS-DCA
US Airways Express (Chautauqua) #4859
ERJ-145
11:30AM-1:00PM

I arrived at the airport and the 33 other people flying with me were already there. We went one by one to check in. I was the only one who had/had brought a frequent flier card to get miles for the trip! After we checked in, we went to the concourse. Security was a breeze--no line at all. When we got into Concourse B, the room was absolutely packed. There was an ERJ to EWR that was delayed, a CHS-LGA, a CHS-CLT-BOS 733 (a lot of people were continuing to BOS), and our CHS-DCA.

Because we were such a large group, I felt bad for anyone else on the plane who had to put up with us for the flight. Needless to say, the flight was overbooked.

We had a long 30 second takeoff roll, and the flight was pretty smooth. I have been relatively impressed with the Chautauqua flight attendents. I find that they are young, and usually enthusiastic about their jobs. It is always a pleasure to fly with them.

Drinks were served, and then the 30 minute stay in your seat rule went into effect. Do the f/as have to follow this rule too? The lady wasn't finished serving the drinks when she announced it.

We had a pretty bumpy landing, but it wasn't horrible. We got our bags and were off to a weekend of fun!

DCA-CHS
US Airways Express (Chautauqua) #4927
ERJ-145
2:20PM-3:50PM

We got to the airport and checked in. Then, on on some benches by the escalator that led down to security, we ate our disgusting box lunches. There was a little bit of a line for security, but it wasn't horrible.

I love DCA!
The terminal is so new and clean. Also, it is really an architectural masterpiece. We were waiting at our gate, which was across the hall from the busses that take you to most of the US Airways Express flights.

The flight was delayed :x . I asked the man which was our plane, and he showed me it was the one pulling in to the gate now. A few minutes later, he said that we would be boarding in just a second--he said it was gonna be the same plane.
Then he announced a gate change

We had to take the bus to our plane, where it was delayed another 30 minutes.

We had a turbulant takeoff, but it got smooth after a while.

All of a sudden (we were right over Durham, NC), we hit this huge bump! The f/a who was getting me my 2nd drink (A FULL CAN!!!) hit her head and fell--nothing serious though--just a little surprising.

Overall it was a great trip. I was a little disappointed in US on the way home that there was no reason for the delay or the a/c/gate change.

Good report. Short, sweet, and to the point! :) I'm going to be on an ERJ in April, what did you think of it?

Did the F/A really fall

good report! I really like DCA too, especially the old concourse A. I've never flown in or out of it but before 9-11 I used to just walk around and spot inside of the airport when I was in DC. Its a great airport!

Matt, the f/a, a 40 yr old woman with a NY accent, hit her head on the overhead bin and fell!

I like the ERJ a lot better than the CRJ. You can have an aisle seat and a window seat (which is a plus for me--sitting next to your parents gets old after a while). The seats lack a little support, but they are good on longer rj flights.

Have fun!

(PS you should hope it's Chautauqua and not Mesa--the mesa crew tends to be older and meaner)

Good Report- I like RJ flights, but then again I was on a CRJ from ORD-ATL.

Funny the f/a fell, my cousin who is also a f/a tripped and mints went all over...it seemed funny.

The bumps over durham wer so wierd.

Maybe it was a bird strike or something--doubtfut that high.

The engine made a funny noise and we dropped at least 25 feet. It was very scary. The bumps lasted about 30 sec. The f/a could not get up after she had fallen, as the turbulance were so huge! It was a clear day, too! No clouds!
