Hi all- flying Qantas LAX to BNE this June, and am wondering what I can expect as far as... well, everything. This will be my first flight with the red tails, and my first flight on a 747 (yeah!). Any info, and I mean any would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay.... seing I've had no replies, how about this question:

How are Q's 744 Longreaches in general? As far as service, comfort, age, etc.?

Thanks.

Mate, you got a few replies on A.net!

First and foremost Qantas will get you there!

Generally reports are that the service on Qantas has improved considerably, and Qantas has always been an expert on long haul flying. With PTVs, good service and new aircraft I think you'll enjoy your flight.

As unbiased as I can be!

I have flown Qantas longhaul quite a few times (trans-pacific) and domestic many times. Both are great products and I have never had anything to complain about.

What to expect? Well, I can tell you from experience that the trans-pacific flights aren't very enjoyable at all. You will be on the aircraft between 12 and 15 hours nonstop and that gets a little old. But, if you can sleep or entertain yourself for that long, you'll be fine. Qantas will look after you well and make it as enjoyable as possible. I haven't flown to New Zealand for quite a few years, but I think you could expect a normal service like any other 2-3 hour flight. Hope that helps.
