Hi all,

Unfortunately a number of circumstances have conspired to make the queue pretty large now:

1. The screening team has been depleted:

Chris has a family matter to attend to
Andy is away on business
Peter is away for two weeks
I am working nights this week
William is still screening off a dial up connection

2. The better weather seems to have brought the photographers out in large numbers, and of course the screeners want to make use of the Sun too (Especially here in the UK, where we are having some glorious weather)

3. The increased popularity of the site continues to attract old and new photographers, resulting in increased uploads

All of these things mean the queue is growing and moving far slower than usual.
Apologies for this but the screeners will work as hard as possible to keep the queue moving, but please be patient, it will take much longer for your shots to be processed.

Thanks

Garry

Normally when I upload a photo here I expect a queue of between 50 and 200 or so photos ahead of it. I was surprised the other day when I checked my queue status after an upload to find I was around # 880. My first thought was that it might take 4 days or so to move up through the queue and my second thought was that the site must be increasing a lot in popularity.

I think it's great if more people are noticing and using the site so I had no problem with the queue numbers. Of course I was pleasantly surprised to get acceptance notification in approximately 24 hours.

For comparison my last acceptance at that other site took 21 days to clear the queue.

Tonight I uploaded a few photos here and got acceptance notification on the first photo before the second was even done uploading! Less than 5 minutes! Now that's service that no one could possibly have any problem with.

Once again my compliments to Chris and all his staff on having the best run site in the business.

How large was the queue? Over on airliners.net it frequently gets up to over 3,000 photos!!! I see 147 on queue right now....that's nothing!

When I left my house to leave for Poland the queue at 1 point was actually standing at 1021, I got it down to 890 or so when I left.

Thanks for all the hard work guys!! glad you all are having wonderful weather! been pretty lousy here, and with the current crisis, no one can get near the airport anyway.. Perimiter roads have armed guards blocking them, and are open for official use by escort only. god knows when any more Anchorage photos will be available. I got thrown out of one of the hangar parking lots by security personnel. so it's pretty hopeless for spotters right now.

We are glad not to have any security problems. Zurich airport is operating normally, and all photo spots are fully acessible. This includes the observation deck.

Peter
