Departure: Sydney
Arrival: Brisbane
Aircraft: 737-800 with huge winglets!
After arriving at the airport for our departure, my girlfriend decides to tell us all that she's forgotten her cell phone at our hotel (Four Points Sheraton- Darling Harbour!)
After some calls to the hotel, we ask it to be sent to our hotel in Trinity Beach, Cairns, where we will be in about a week's time.
We board the aircraft after being offered head phones.
The aircraft is very clean and nicely kept. The seat pitch and width beats the previous Malaysia Airlines flight from London by far.
The cabin crew perform a pre take off safety demonstration whilst taxiing to the runway (which seemed to take an eternity)
I am able to sit with girlfriend and my other friend Rick who is afraid of flying.
The quick take off is ruined by heavy turbulence and heavy gusts of wind.
I look across at him, clutching the arm rests with his eyes shut.
Bless
The crew hand out boxes with a drink in it, with a roll and cheese sticks. I have Rick's roll because he isn't hungry.
The descent into Brisbane is through dense clouds and strong gusts, making the aircraft bounce heavily before slamming down onto the runway with the pilots utilizing the reverse thrust to their maximum.
Taxi to the terminal and grab a roll anda drink.
Brisbane to Mackay
Boeing 717-200
About 30 minutes later, we are boarding the 717, my first flight with one.
On first impressions, it looks very clean and offers very comfortable seats. There is a flight attendant with a full cleavage who is very friendly! She chats with us and promises to move us after take off. She does :)
I was sat at the very back with a noisy engine in my face
Our new seats are over the wing and in the emergency exit row. The flight attendant returns with a muffin and slips us some mini gin bottles and some white wine. She actually sits down with us and talks to us for about 10 minutes until her colleague prompts her to move!
Before landing, she comes back and explains how we are to use the Emergency Exit. She is very nice! :P
Landing at Mackay is smooth and we taxi to the terminal- we are the only aircraft at the airport...
Walking to the terminal, we are struck by intense humidity. Omg! It was so hot. My case was busted when it came through on the belt :(
We picked up two cars and drove to Airlie Beach- had a fantastic time there! Drove to Cairns. Hold on for our Cairns-Ayers Rock- Perth sector in P4!
