Departure: Kuala Lumpur Airport, Malaysia
Arrival: Kingsford Smith (Sydney), Australia
Aircraft: B747-400
I don't think that I am excessivley large at all and have always been very comfortable in Economy class. However, sitting in MH's Emergency exit in Economy with seats made for midgets, I felt like crying :x I am not joking there!
My girlfriend was supposed to be sat next to me, however, we were separated by two lavatories ( she was in the same row).
The flight time to Sydney was going to be around 8 hours. I was not looking forward to the flight and stopped a member of crew to change seats.
He told me he'd come back to me after take off, but do you think he did? No!
The take off was long and after we were airborne the noise of the under carriage was very loud and juddered the aircraft. We experienced some moderate take off, but soon enough, we were cruising.
The flight attendants came round offering head phones and cannes of Fosters (pretty strange, I thought!). I didn't take her up on the fosters. Instead, I fell asleep, tired from the trip from London and Penang.
I declined dinner because I was still too uncomfortable to eat- the fold out tray table dug into my stomach (as it did with the two guys next to me) so I just sat there and fumed! :x :x
By far the worst seat width I have EVER encountered on any airline in any configuration. It was beyond belief! A far cry from my Goldern Club Class seat on the way from London.
I did some more sleeping, intertwined with using the IFE and walking around the cabin.
I met up with my girlfriend and other friend, pulling down the crew seat, which was far more comfortable! We had some white wine and chatted for a while, before playing Online Trivia Pursuit (Over 20 people playing onboard, I was No.4 and my friend won!).
Soon, daylight was breaking through the cabin windows and people were getting up to use the toilets (located just to my left). I went to the toilet to shave and freshen up. We were offered a small breakfast of croissants and jam with a yoghurt drink.
I could see the Sydney sky line appearing. I was very moved. It looked spectacular!
The landing at Sydney was very hard with a piece of cieling trimming actually falling off and landing by my feet. The cabin crew phoned the onboard engineer to let him know.
The cabin was sprayed before we departed.
I did not enjoy that flight!
