Hey everyone,
I just wanted to write about one of the best flights I've ever taken.....It's been a while so I might leave out a few details...
UA919 April 27, 2003
LHR-IAD Boeing 777(N778UA)
Depart-1:00pm(On time) gate 16 terminal 3
Arrive-3:30pm(35 minutes early)gate C1
Seat 39B
After 10 days of fun with my soccer team in England, it was time to leave :( . We left the hotel around 9am to Heathrow. Me, being the only one on the team the least bit interested in aviation, watched planes on finals into LHR including some BA 757's and 747's while everyone else slept. At check-in, we were the only people there and everything went smooth. We all spent about an hour in Teminal 3 before passing through security. I went to Starbucks and then went to the arcade with everyone else to use up our British pounds before leaving. It was a lot of fun but it was time to leave. Security took about 20 minutes and we went through without any problems. My mom and I went to exchange our money (I got $26 back :D ) At the gate, we went to a holding area and waited for about 20 minutes until they began boarding. After first class and special needs and children board, it's our turn since we're all the way in the back. I got an aisle seat(and was glad) so I could stretch my legs. We pushed back right on time, and I was already plugged into channel 9 :D we taxied out behind a LH Airbus and an AA 777 to BOS. Take-off was powerful and quiet. It was a little bumpy over Ireland but that would be the last of the bumps until we were on the ground again. Lunch began to be served about an hour into the flight. The food was awesome for airline food, we had the choice of pasta and something else(sorry it was a while ago) along with a salad and garlic bread. For desert we had Cadbury's chocolate fudge chunk ice cream mmm mmm mmm :D that was the highlight of my trip! After lunch I watched Jay Leno and did some homework. The FA's (who were extremely friendly, great job UA) passed out some cracker's and drinks. Those were the best crackers I've ever had and I went back to the galley when I was done and got some more and had a chat with two of the FA's (very nice). After that we were only about 2 hours from arrival. I was in heaven....38000 feet above the earth. After a little nap in the rather comfy seats we were over the NYC area and I plugged back into channel 9 and listened until we were at our gate. The descent was great! It felt like a roller coaster when you have butterflies in your stomach. It was great, the whole team had their hands up in the air like they were on a roller coaster. After a perfect landing, we taxied to gate C1. I said bye to all my FA friends and thanked the pilot for an awesome flight.
Great service, great aircraft, great people. Long live UA!
