Wow, that really is rough. They really are giving it to the unions. As a union leader what do you do? Accept the cuts and take their word the airline will survive? Reject the offer and hope their bluffing? Besides, the employees getting the shaft think of the customers traveling home for the holidays. Allot of people's Christmas will be ruined if they shut down.

Some updates on U...
CWA has a tentative agreement, but they mention voting and results by 12/31. RSA wanted everything done by 12/20, so we'll see on Friday...

I got this from another board, so the following are not my words..
"TWU has signed on now as well. IAM-Mechanics, IAM-Fleet Service, and AFA are the only ones left. AFA will likely proceed with an agreement as well as IAM-Fleet Service...but the Mechanics will probably hold things up.
I wish them luck...

So let me get this straight....Unless US Airways meets there demands, they will stop flying? And if they do, will they file for Chapter 7 banckruptcy or just not fly?

No. Go back and read the two messages at the start of this thread. US Airways basically said here's the offer, take it as is with no negotiations or the doors close 12/20.
Most unions have done so, but a couple have yet to commit.

And you guys wonder why airline employees don't give up concessions readily when the company is in trouble. That's the reason. Two years ago with the airline saying they'll turn it around and stay in business, and still in serious trouble now.
Keep that in mind next time you go blaming an employee group for the downfall, or demise of an airline because they wouldn't take concessions.
