**Note: All times are local time.
INTRODUCTION:
It was once again time to head back to the University in the “tundra” (Grand Forks, ND) after a nice three week break from school. I left my house shortly after 10:00 a.m. (MST) so I could go meet with my parents for lunch before heading out to the airport. I had some lunch and made my way to the airport were I arrived at 12:30 p.m. I get out of the car and the first plane I see take-off is an EasyJet Boeing B737. Now, what the heck is an EasyJet doing in Boise, Idaho? Anyway, I went up to the departure lounge and walked down to the Northwest check-in counter with no lines. The airport wasn’t busy at all…
CHECK-IN/SECURITY:
I checked my two bags and was handed my boarding passes and got my miles credited on my Delta SkyMiles card. After saying good-bye to my dad I went through security, once again no lines and no other passengers, so I breezed through security and made my way to Gate 16. Since it was only 1:00 p.m., I still had over an hour before departure so I decided to sit down by the Southwest Airlines gates to check out what was going on the ramp. I managed to snap a picture of the EasyJet that was doing a bunch of take-off’s and landings, the only explanation I could come up with why an EasyJet would be in Boise, is I figured it must be from Boeing Field doing some test-flights.

After watching a few other planes take-off and land, including the Northwest A319 which arrived early that would take me to MSP later on.
BOISE, ID (BOI) – MINNEAPOLIS, MN (MSP)
Flight Time: 2 hrs 17 minutes ∙ Load Factor: ~45%
Airline: Northwest Airlines
Flight#: 1274
Aircraft: Airbus A319-100 (N341NB)
Seat: 13A (Window)
http://www.aero.und.edu/Student-Organizations/sama/Trip/trip_2.JPG
Scheduled/Actual Departure: 2:15 p.m./ 2:21 p.m. (MST)
Scheduled/Actual Arrival: 6:04 p.m./ 5:48 p.m. (CST)
Boarding started at approximately 1:50 p.m. (MST) and there were only a few people in the gate area so I figured it would be a pretty light load, and I was right. First class was full, but economy wasn’t even half full. I boarded the aircraft and found my seat (13A). Seat pitch wasn’t that great but nobody was sitting next to me so I could stretch out a bit more.

We pushed back a few minutes ahead of scheduled and taxied to runway 10L, were we took off at 2:21 p.m. We continued to climb out over the Boise foothills to our crusing altitude of 37,000 feet. After the seat belt sign was turned off the two female and one male flight attendend began serving beverages and try to sell those overpriced in-flight meals for $5 and $10. I had a Sierra Mist and some Sprinzels and started to read the Airliner World ‘RegionalJets’ magazine which I bought before departure. The flight was pretty smooth and uneventful. Our route took us though eastern Idaho, then north of Crazy Women, Wyoming into South Dakota and Minnesota. The captain came over the PA and said that it will be a smooth flight and that we will be arriving ahead of schedule. The sun started to set as we continued to head east and more and more clouds started to appear until it was completely overcast.

We were 75 miles west of Minneapolis when the captain told us that we have been put in a holding pattern, so we circled around with other a few other planes for another 15 minutes until we passed through the thick clouds for landing in MSP.

Approach was a bit bumpy with a lot of left and right movements and it looked like we floated almost half way down runway 30L were we touched down at 5:48 p.m. We exited the runway and taxied around the terminals for our parking position at Gate C12.
When I got into Minneapolis, I still had 3 hours until my departure to Grand Forks, so I walked around the terminals for a bit and then went up to the observation deck to read my magazine and the MSP Airport newspaper until it was time for departure.
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN (MSP) – GRAND FORKS, ND (GFK)
Flight Time: 52 minutes ∙ Load Factor: 100%
Airline: Northwest Airlines
Flight#: 1462
Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas DC-9-50 (N772NC)
Seat: 15D (Exit Row)
Scheduled/Actual Departure: 8:59 p.m / 9:14 p.m. (CST)
Scheduled/Actual Arrival: 10:05 a.m./ 10:06 p.m.(CST)
Made my way to gate D3 at 8:30 p.m. and a few minutes later they already started the boarding process. I was one of the first passengers to board since I was seated in an Exit Row seat. This flight was 100% full with mostly college students. We pushed back at 9 o’clock and taxied to runway 30R were we took off at 9:14 p.m. We had a smooth climb and continued to head Northwest with a flight time of a about 52 minutes, and since this was such a short flight we only got Orange Juice or water. Again, another uneventful flight and we arrived in Grand Forks on time.
Hope you enjoyed the trip report and the pictures, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask.
