View Full Version : Lufthansa Summer 2003 News; 767 to PHL/ATL

Here's the quick summary of Lufthansa's 2003 summer timetable highlights INTERNATIONALLY.

New 767 Service
Effective April 6, B767-300 service will be introduced on flights to Philadelphia and Atlanta, replacing existing A330-200 service.

The 767-300 comes from Lauda Air (OE-LAY/OE-LAZ), and they will be registered as D-ABUV/D-ABUW. (Info from airliners.de)

Configuration: C36Y209

More A330 service to new destinations
A330 will be operated for flights to Boston, New York, Cairo (mix of A330/340), Tel Aviv.

Ex-SN A340 to Chicago
Lufthansa's 1st ex-Sabena A340 will be operating flights to Chicago.

Aircraft Change
Flights to Riyadh will downgrade from 744 to 340
Flights to Jeddah will downgrade from 744 to 313 (see route adjustment)
Flights to Sanaa will downgrade from 340 to 313(See route adjustment)
Flights to Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Muscat will downgrade from 744 to 340
Flights to sao Paulo will upgrade from 343 to 744(See route adjustment)

New Service
Effective June 30, 3 weekly non-stop between Munich-Beijing
Resumption service between Munich and Los Angeles

Increased Service
Munich-Shanghai will increased to Daily
Munich-Hong Kong will increased to 6x weekly

Route Adjustments
Non-stop flight to Buenos Aires will be re-routed via Sao Paulo.
1-stop flight to Santiago de Chile will be re-routed via Sao Paulo instead of Buenos Aires.
Flights to Sanaa will re-routed via Jeddah instead of Cairo.
Flights to Jeddah will be non-stop instead of 1-stop via Riyadh.

F Class elimination
Lufthansa is progressively eliminating First Class Service on A330/340 service. The new A330-200/340-600 is likely to be in 2-class configuration as well.

Crap, I thought they would have added Montreal to their route network. There was a strong possibility they would, but I guess we'll have to wait t'ill next year!

About Montreal, I can not confirm this, but Lufthansa is considering Munich-Montreal for this summer. Possibly the 2nd half of 2003 summer timetable (July 1~).

A 767 for replacement for A332? Weird! Why would not they find an A333? (Though I like they use 767s :D )
By the way, are the two 763s leased in by wet lease or dry lease?

Geoffrey, LH have A333s on order, but they aren't due untill around 2004 or 2005 (correct me if I'm wrong).

B763 in LH colors, I can't wait to see that. I don't think the B763 is replacing the A332. After all, they've just been painted and put into service. Both are just on temporary lease until the A333 arrives.

It looks like LH will have a few B744s to spare now.

Hold up. There was supposed to be a route to PDX this summer on an A340. Are you sure that's correct? I swear, it was all over the news hee about the business oppurtunities with an international route from FRA to PDX.

Oops...forgot the new daily Frankfurt-Portland service with A340!

The schedule for new service is up. Effective May 19, Lufthansa will offer A340 service to Montreal.

DUS-ORD-DUS (Boeing BBJ; from June 9)

MUC-EWR-MUC (Boeing BBJ; from May 19)

DUS-ORDv.v. and MUC-EWR v.v. is a joint-venture with Privat Air, using 48-seater Boeing BBJ.
