Hi,
Rumour has it that Qantas Airways Boeing 747-438 VH-OJB (Wunula Dreaming) will be repainted into the normal Qantas Airways Colour Sceme after nearly a decade in service with the Wunula (Kangaroos) Dreming sceme. Another romour has it that a new Boeing 747-400ER will be given a Aboriginal Sceme.

Some Facts:

* The Aircraft was painted in the sceme in 1994.
* The natural colours of the country have inspired the artists' palette, from, the bright reds of Uluru (Ayers Rock) at sunset to the blue-lavenders that define the Flinders Ranges lining the Center's desert horizon. And if you've ventured into the wetlands of Kakadu, you'll recognise the lush apple-green.
*'Wunala Dreaming' is of the Yanyuwa people from the Gulf.

Hi,
Just found out that Qantas Airways 747-438 VH-OJC, F1 Sceme may be repainted into a Rugby World Cup sceme.

Thanks

Special schemes make an airline p.r. exec's smile. Getting rid of the schemes makes everyone except the costcutters sad :(

Repainting that Aircaft would be terrible. :( It is a representation of the airline. Repainting it is like getting a new mascot...Usually it isn't a good choice. Especially when people like the old mascot.

My Two cents

They can't repaint it. It's such a nice looking color scheme. It's unique to Australia and Qantas, just as the Tropical Megatop was to SQ, The Royal Barge is to TG, and the Asia's world City/Millenium is to CX!

What's the point in repainting one special color scheme when another plane will receive one anyway!!! Makes no sense to me. This 747-400ER's scheme better beat Wunala's or it'll be a big disappointment.

Richard.

PS-What are they going to do about the Nalanji plane when that retires? That plane's been flying since '85 and it's colors have been around just as long. On a sidenote: I've flown on that pretty bird.

That's just too bad they’re repainting it. While I'm not a big fan of the design it certainly is recognizable and makes a statement about Australia. Although she must have been a pain to keep clean and maintain.

Instead of wasting money by repainting Wunala, they should paint another plane in a special scheme.

Wunala Dreaming is a beautiful paint scheme.

If QF Execs are reading this, please leave the plane alone! Paint another -400, please!

Cheers! :D

Hi,
I believe Nalanji or Place Dreaming is expected to remain in its present form until retirment.

Here are some facts:

* Nalanji is the Aboriginal word for Place.
* Its was painted in the sceme a year after Wunula in 1995.
* "Nalanji Dreaming" expresses its uniquely Australian cultural themes in a lush, tropical colour palette.

Very Good Idea :D
