View Full Version : Assistance with backlighting.
G'day. I know that like all artforms photography is subject to taste. I really love dawn/dusk type lighting and would love to share some shots with you but I'm not sure how to process them to JP standard.
Can I have some feedback about this shot, http://www.jetphotos.net/viewreject.php?id=88334, and what, if anything , I can do to improve it.

What are you trying to show with that picture? It is blinding to look at, you have to want to see what plane it is, and at that the color is somewhat yellowish.....
I would avoid shooting from inside the international terminal at AKL if I were you, it is possibly the worst airport I've been too in terms of reflections and window glare :)
The glass in that terminal is also heavily tinted which makes life even more difficult, frankly I think you have achieved a minor miracle to get anywhere near as good as you have done with your pic, but I concur with Jeff in that I'm not sure what you are trying to show us and that the sky is an unnatural colour.
So sort out the colour, get rid of the window glare and maybe sharpen a little :)
Thanks for your feedback Jeff, I rest my case about varying taste.
Matt, that ain't from the grotty terminal, it's from the flightdeck. Because of the cloud on the eastern horizon it was the most amazing yellow dawn I've seen, with amazing light.
Does a shot like this one carry any more interest to you guys?
It was taken a few minutes before the other one.
(Obviously it still needs to be tidied up, grain etc.)
I love that second shot :) Nice colours, a shaprper image, you can see the kangaroo tail much better in this one and there is more detail in the background.
I suggest you upload this one.
Thanks very much Matt, I'll give it a go!

looks overprocessed, grainey, and not level to me.
Hurray! Thanks for your input guys:
